About Taboo Party
Taboo Party is a free online Taboo game built and run by Ansh Raj Suryavanshi. Its Discord community shapes the word packs and new features.
Who builds it, and why
I am Ansh Raj Suryavanshi, and I build and run Taboo Party. I write the game server that runs every room, the website, the Discord Activity and the Windows app, and I look after the word lists.
I also write the guides on this site and answer support messages myself. When you email or post on Discord, you reach the person who can fix the problem.
Playing Taboo on a call usually means one person holding a deck away from the camera, another running a phone timer and a third keeping score on paper. Taboo Party moves those jobs into the game, so the group can spend the evening describing and guessing.

Standard party games often require expensive physical decks or complicated setups. I wanted something you can start playing in seconds, whether you're at a party, on a call, or hanging out at home.
What makes Taboo Party different
A board, not a card
The describer sees ten words at once and picks the order. Each tile shows its points, from 4 for the easiest words to 80 for the hardest, and a run of 6 correct guesses adds bonus words to the board.
A referee in the game
The watching team can report a slip, the room can settle it in a 30-second vote that needs 60% to pass, and an optional voice check listens for board words. Near misses on long words earn half points.
English, Hindi and Hinglish
There are 12 built-in packs from 6,109 English and 1,856 Hindi words, including a Hinglish pack that mixes both. Groups can also build custom packs from their own words.
One, two or three teams
Two players can play one team together for a high score, and bigger groups split into two or three teams by Randomize or a captains' draft. Experienced players can move on to ranked rooms and leaderboards.
Built for mixed groups
Anyone can join a room as a guest. Players under 13 play as guests with preset chat phrases, and the game shows them no ads, no GIFs and no images from other sites. Chat is filtered and any player or message can be reported.
Where you can play
On the website, in any modern browser on a phone, tablet or computer. Chrome and Edge can also install it as an app with its own window and icon.
As a Discord Activity: start it from a voice channel and everyone in the channel plays without leaving Discord. Purchases there go through Discord, and no Google ads appear inside the Activity.

A short history
The game was already running, with its rooms, word packs and Discord Activity, before the public changelog began in October 2026. Since then the biggest changes have been:
- October 6, 2026: a new arcade design on every screen, including inside the Discord Activity, plus a light theme. The host-pays model arrived: joining a room is free with no account, and hosts use a free account with a monthly allowance of games. Players under 13 got guest play with preset chat.
- October 8, 2026: players can report another player or a chat message, and signed-in players can download their data or delete their account.
- October 9, 2026: the game can be installed as an app from Chrome or Edge, and gained music and separate volume sliders.
- October 10, 2026: the guide library opened, with articles on the rules, describing, guessing and hosting.
- October 15, 2026: the Windows edition, Hushword, went live on the Microsoft Store.
- October 27, 2026: Forbidden mode arrived. It plays like the card game: the describer works through three big cards at a time, each with five forbidden words that may not be said either.
How the words and guides are made
Players shape the word lists. During a game anyone can suggest a new word with the difficulty they think it deserves, or flag a word whose difficulty feels wrong. I read those suggestions, along with the feature ideas posted on the Discord server, and they decide what changes next.
The guides and the How to play page are written from the game's own rules. Every number on them, from the 4 to 12 points of an easy word to the 60% needed to confirm a vote, comes from the code that runs the rooms. Each guide lists its sources and the date it was last updated.

How it stays free
Joining a room is always free. Hosts get a monthly allowance of free games, and Party Pass or Plus removes the limit for everyone in their rooms. Coins buy cosmetics, players can leave a tip, and a few ads cover the rest; Plus members see no ads.
