What's new on Taboo Party
This changelog is the dated list of updates players can see on Taboo Party, newest first. Each entry went live on the date shown, and we add new ones as they ship.
A smoother start in the Discord Activity
Opening Taboo Party inside Discord no longer gets stuck on "Reconnecting to your game" after you closed it last time. Sign-in now has a time limit, the loading card names the step it is on, and the layout is tidier on Discord for PC and on phones.
Games played on the home page
When only a few people are online, the home page stats now show how many games have been played on Taboo Party, next to the visit count. On phones the stats pill is only as wide as its numbers, and each number gets a short label.
A tidier header on phones
On phones and tablets the home header now has two rows: live stats and your buttons on top, and the page links in one bar underneath. The "Stuck?" button no longer sits on top of the room-code box on phones.
A swipe hint on the pricing tables
The plan and coin tables on the pricing page are wider than a phone screen. On phones, a short "Swipe sideways to see every column" hint now sits above each table, so the Party Pass, Plus and rupee columns are easy to find.
New page: ways to play Taboo online, compared
A new compare page puts Taboo Party side by side with the official Taboo app and with your own cards on a video call. It covers what each one needs from your group, from accounts to keeping score.
Header links and a note before you invite friends
The home header now has text links to How to play, Pricing and Support us. A short "Before you invite friends" note explains that rooms run on our own game server, that you rejoin the same room after a dropped connection, and how chat is kept safe.
Faster loading
The home page is now built ahead of time and served from a CDN, so it opens faster. The lobby, game, results and Settings screens download only when you need them, and the page no longer jumps while ads, stats and the rules reminder load.
Player reviews on the home page
The home page has a new "What players say" section with three reviews from players, shown word for word. You will also find links to our Discord, Instagram and X profiles in the footer.
Install Taboo Party as an app
In Chrome and Edge on Windows, macOS, Linux and Android, you can now install Taboo Party as an app with its own window and icon. Look for the "Install app" button in the footer: it appears only when your browser offers installation. You still need to be online to play.
A cleaner home page on phones
The play panel on the home page is simpler, and the join row gives the room-code box more room. The keyboard no longer pops up by itself when the page loads, and How it works is now three numbered steps that stack neatly on a phone.
Music, volume sliders and new animations
Settings now has volume sliders for master, music, effects, timer, chat and taps, plus a mute switch. Background music plays in menus and games, with a faster track in the last 10 seconds of a turn. Word tiles pop green on a correct guess and shake red on a taboo, and winners get confetti.
Download your data or delete your account
Signed-in players can now download a copy of their data, or delete their account, from Customize Profile under "Your data". A small reminder of the community rules also appears on the home page, at most once every 90 days.
Report a player or a message during a game
You can now report another player from the in-game player list, or report a single chat message, and pick a reason. Custom word pack names and words also pass through the content filter. On a device where the player said they are under 13, the game loads no images from other sites.
Open hosting for guests, for a limited time
We can now open hosting to guests for a set time. While it is open, guests can create rooms and start games without an account, and the home page shows when it is open.
A clearer privacy policy and terms
The privacy policy and terms of service were rewritten in plain words. Purchases and tips can now be refunded if you ask within 14 days of buying.
The host pays, the whole room plays
Joining a room is free and needs no account. Hosting uses a free account with a monthly allowance of games, and Party Pass or Plus removes the limit for everyone in your rooms. Plus members also see no ads.
Age check and guest play for under-13s
When an age is needed, players choose an age band in a short sheet instead of a full-screen gate. Players under 13 play as guests with preset chat phrases. For everyone else, chat, player names and links pass through a stronger content filter.
Light mode and a Settings window
A new Settings window, opened from the gear button or the profile menu, lets you choose a dark, light or system theme and turn sounds on or off. Plus subscribers can also switch back to the classic look.
A new arcade look
Every screen got a new, chunkier arcade design that works on phones, tablets, laptops and inside the Discord Activity. Long words now shrink to fit inside their tiles instead of spilling over.
